APIMONDIA CONGRESS 2013:AN ADDRESS TO THE ORGANISING COMMITTEE OF THE CONGRESS, SEPTEMBER 2013

MR President/Chairman and fellow beekeepers, my name is Michael Gleeson, the delegate from the Federation of Irish Beekeepers' Associations. As the delegate from Ireland who has been a member of Apimondia for many years, I am asking for the suspensionof standing orders to address this great assembly of beekeepers.The issue I wish to raise is the dreadful situation that occurred on Saturday when registration of delegates was suspended and again yesterday the chaos at registration. I have attended five Apimondia since 2001 and was part of the organising committee for Apimondia 2005. I am still very angry regarding the situation that developed yesterday at registration. I wish to protest in the strongest terms on my own behalf and I am sure that I echo the sentiments of many others present here today. I, along withmy fellow delegates from Ireland, pre-registered last March for this conference. We arrived on Saturday afternoon to register but could not We arrived again yesterday, queued from 9.40 a.m. until 2.10 p.m. before wecould register 4.5 hours later. This is adisgraceful situation and a serious health and safety issue.
