摘要

The formation of methanol from synthesis gas (CO/CO2/H2) is one of the key processes in the chemical industry today. Conventionally, Cu-Zn-AI mixed oxides are used as catalyst precursors in low-pressure methanol synthesis. The industrial importance is confirmed by the numerous patents granted to various manufacturers for the production of ternary catalysts. In most cases, the technical preparation route comprises of the co-precipitation of a metal nitrate solution with sodium or ammonium carbonate to generate mixed hydroxy carbonates, followed by calcination and reduction of the precursor to form the active Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst.
