Dow Corning CEO Calls for Renewable Energy Support

In testimony yesterday before the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee, Dow Corning CEO Stephanie Burns called for greater sup- port for the renewable energy industry in the U.S. Burns argued that the U.S. government must do more to "encourage the rapid development and deployment of energy efficient and renewable energy technologies." She also called for making the Advanced Energy Manufacturing Tax Credit (AEMTC), of which Dow Corning is a beneficiary, permanent. The tax credit was originally capped at $2.3 billion and was oversubscribed. "There is an immediate need for targeted tax credits for manufactur- ing," Burns says. Other countries, such as Germany, Malaysia and the Philippines, provide support for renewable energy manufacturing, she notes.
