Pedicled jejunal patch duodenoplasty for traumatic duodenal injury: report of a successfully treated case.

Traumatic duodenal injury requires an emergency operation, however, how duodenoplasty should be performed is often difficult. This report describes a case in which the duodenal wall was successfully repaired using jejunal patch duodenoplasty in a patient with a duodenal injury from a traffic accident. A 60-year-old woman was transferred to the Toyama University hospital in April 2000 after a motor vehicle collision with severe abdominal pain. Abdominal findings revealed marked tenderness and board-like rigidity in the upper abdomen, suggesting general peritonitis. An abdominal CT scan showed extraluminal gas in the retroperitoneal space, so we performed an emergency operation under a diagnosis of panper-itonitis due to perforation of the duodenum.
