To the Editor:Stercoral ulcer is characterized by the loss of bowel integrity resulting from pressure effect of impacted feces and is associated with long-standing constipation, which leads to severe fecal peritonitis. The characteristic patient population consists of elderly persons who are often malnourished, debilitated, bedridden, mentally ill, or narcotic-dependent.
