Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals (Hyderabad, India) is planning to build a nitrogen fertilizer complex in Nigeria, senior sources at the company tell CW. Nagarjuna has held discussions with state-owned oil and gas group Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. (NNPC; Lagos) on the purchase of natural gas feedstock for the proposed $1.45-billion complex, which would be built near Lagos. Further talks with NNPC are scheduled for the end of August. The complex would be Nagarjuna's first manufacturing facility outside India and it would be designed to produce 730,000 m.t./year of ammonia and 1.25 million m.t./year of urea. Some of the output would be used in Nigeria, where Nagarjuna is planning to assist with furthering the development of local agriculture.
