Technip Awarded ethylene contract in Venezuela

Technip has been awarded a reimbursable contract by Polimerica (Caracas) to perform front end engineering design (FEED) for a previously announced ethylene plant at Jose, Venezuela. The plant will be designed to produce 1.3 million m.t./year of ethylene and will form part of a petrochemical complex with an overall investment of about $3.2 billion. Technip was awarded a letter of intent for the ethane cracker last year, as exclusively reported in CW. Technip's office in Rome will execute this contract with assistance from its Zoetermeer, the Netherlands center. The FEED activities are scheduled to be completed by the second quarter of 2011.
