Bluestar Silicones says it has started up a new silicone fluids manufacturing line at its Santo André, Brazil plant. Financial and capacity terms were not disclosed. Bluestar says the investment will enable it to meet double-digit annual demand growth for silicone fluids in the Brazilian market. "This capacity-building is right in line with our global sales development strategy targeting major new customers in markets where we already enjoy strong positions, giving us opportunity to be present in new markets and it’s an indication of Bluestar Silicones ambition in Latin America Zone," says Lucas Freire, president of Bluestar Silicones In Latin America. Silicone fluids are used in lubrication, textile softening, and home and personal care applications.
