Siam Cements chemicals business reports higher profits on improved margins

SCG Chemicals, the chemical subsidiary of Siam Cement Group (SCG; Bangkok, Thailand), says that net profits increased 74% in the third quarter of 2016 compared with the year-ago quarter, to 11.91 billion baht ($340 million) as a result of better margins with lower feedstock costs, and better performance by subsidiaries. Third-quarter sales for SCG Chemicals decreased 7%, however, compared with the year-ago period, to 48.13 billion baht due to lower selling prices and sales volume, the company says.
