Williams Geismar down for 10-day planned maintenance

Williams Partners on 29 November took down its Geismar, Louisiana, olefins plant for 10 days of planned maintenance. The company expects the plant, which has capacity to produce 885,000 metric tons/year of ethylene and 52,000 metric tons/year of propylene, to be back up and running at full rate by 9 December. IHS Chemical expects that the outage will have minimal market impact. During Williams’s third-quarter earnings call on 31 October, CEO Alan Armstrong said that the company had sold all of its third-quarter production, but that it had retained some of the 13.7 metric ton surplus held at the end of the first quarter.
