Car manufacturers know that the only way to unseat competition is to out-invent them, delivering new, better products faster and more competently than their peers. All OEs are trying to reduce design cycles. Rather than just trying to improve parts of the product development process, the focus is now on the whole: enabling better phase-to-phase data flow; reducing the re-engineering involved as systems pass through departments; reducing specific domain requirements to a common level; and freeing engineers to focus on the product, not the tools used.
