Preparation associated with the modern crash test dummy is very time-consuming. Dummies with 60 or more measurement channels are in use in most automotive testing laboratories The newer-generation ATDs will require even more channels, extending the capacity of the associated signal conditioning and data collection systems. In most crash labs, the information obtained from the transducers installed inside a dummy is acquired by onboard systems. As these systems are installed within the crash vehicle, it is necessary to route the analog transducer signals via cables from the sensors mounted inside the dummy to the sensor interface panel of the DAS.
