I was surprised to hear from editor Eve Mattingley-Hannigan how many TEST subscribers took seriously my tongue-in-cheek February/March 2000 column, "Save keystrokes: 'Tu' replaces 'g^2/Hz'." Seriously enough to write letters of protest! I can hardly apologize for offending these readers' "engineering sensibilities," since my intent was humorous. However, Eve assures me that when many readers have actually written letters to the editor, I should hasten to make it unequivocally clear that I was joking.
