Artlant PTA (Sines, Portugal), the shares of which are partly owned by former polyethylene terephthalate (PET) producer La Seda de Barcelona (El Prat Llobregat, Spain), has once again postponed restarting its purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant, this time until September. The plant, which has been off-line since April last year, began production in March 2012. The plant has production capacity for 700,000 m.t./year of PTA. Artlant shareholders have failed to agree to restart production at the PTA plant. One of the shareholders, La Seda, filed for liquidation in January last year.
