It is generally accepted that the detection of Ralstonia solanacearum, which causes bacterial wilt of agricultural products, requires specific antibodies for precise results because this pathogen has a wide host range and includes so many types of biodiversity classification. This experiment produced a polyclonal antibody (Pab) and 22 monoclonal antibodies (Mabs) which were tested against various biovar types of R. solanacearum potato strains, for comparison with the serological reaction by indirectELISA assay reaction with 77 R, solanacearum isolates which were isolated in Thailand. The isolates included three biovar types and 18 economic crops. The results showed that four Mabs had higher sensitivity in serological reactions than Pab on R. solanacearum from holy basil, eucalyptus and crispy eggplant. All biovars of Pab had strong reaction. Seven Mabs from potato show that the biovars 2 had stronger reactions on R. solanacearum than the biovar 3. Two other Mabs from potato, the biovar 3 had stronger reactions on R. solanacearum than the biovars 2 and 4. Similarly, three Mabs from ginger, curcuma and African marigold, the biovar 3 had stronger reactions on R. solanacearum than the biovar 4. R. solanacearum anthurium strains from different locations also had different reactions with four Mabs. Most reactions of Mabs were ambiguous and have variable serological reactions. It is therefore believed that many epitopes of this pathogen have more diversity than this experiment has shown.
