Gazprom urges Ukraine to settle gas debt, Odessa stops fertilizer output at one plant

Gazprom on Thursday held discussions with Ukraine’s energy group Naftogaz of Ukraine (Kiev) urging the company to settle the accumu- lated debt for the supply of natural gas. Gazprom says that Naftogaz owes more than $2.2 billion, including overdue payments for March supplies. Gazprom expressed concerns over the reduction in the work- ing gas capacity in the underground storage facilities in Ukraine, which need to be replenished to meet domestic demand and to enable Naftogaz to fulfl its obligations of uninterrupted Russian gas transit to Europe.
