Platform's acquisition of Alent closes

Platform Specialty Productss $2.3-billion acquisition of Alent plc (Woking, UK), an electronic chemicals maker, closed today. In conjunction with the close, Platform will issue 18.4 million shares of common stock to Alent shareholders, which will be listed on the New York Stock Exchange as of 2 December. Platform shares closed at $12.82/share on 1 December. Alent will be merged with the former MacDermid, as well as the former electronic chemicals and photomasks businesses of OM Group, to form Platforms performance solutions division.
