As in the switch repair, ALCAPA implantation surgerynecessitates detailed preoperative and intraoperative evaluation of the proxirnal LCA anatomy, especially when the ostium is remote from the aorta, in order to prevent potentially critical postoperative stenosis. Transesophageal echocardiography frequently enables adequate evaluation of the coronary ostial anatomy in newborns, but computerized axial tomographic angiographymay also be required.
