The demand and supply for metallurgical coal got eased sharply in 2014 in the Asian region, and the spot market for metallurgical coal has got weakened rapidly. The background for the above is while the demand for metallurgical coal was slumping in the Asian region, some of suppliers which had excessive inventories dumped metallurgical coal to China, and resultingly the spot export price of metallurgical coal dropped drastically. Especially, this spot export price dropped drastically during early March to mid-March.
