Partly because respective steel mills in China curbed the import of metallurgical coal, the export market for metallurgical coal got weakened in September. In fact, the spot export price of hard coking coal which was US$112 - US$113 in late August dipped below US$110 in early September. In a reflection of such a market, the prices of all types of metallurgical coal including hard coking coal in the period from October to December were lowered by US$1 from the prior period.
