On 6th July, CanAm Coal Corp. of Canada announced to buy out additional 49 percent shares of US coal company RAC Mining LLC from Job Land & Mineral Inc. Upon completion of the acquisition of the shares, shareholding ratio of RAC mining by CanAm rises to 98 percent from 49 percent. RAC Mining now operates Powhatan coal mine in Alabama, where coal production started on December 2, 2009. At the mine both oepncut concession and highwall concession are developed where metallurgical coal and thermal coal are produced. The current production ratios are 80 percent of metallurgical coal and 20 percent of thermal coal.
