New Hope to Expand Coal Export Business

While the resource majors like Rio Tinto plc and Vale S.A. are proceeding with the sale of coal assets against abackground of the long-term doldrums of the coal export market, New Hope Corporation Limited, an independent coalmining company in Australia is going to expand the coal export business by positively taking over coal assets in thiscountry. Firstly, New Hope took over a 51% interest in North Surat JV (NSJV) from Cockatoo Coal Limited in December2014. Furthermore, New Hope acquired a 49% interest in this JV from Mitsui & Co., Ltd. in the end of March 2015 andraised its interest holding ratio to 100%.
