In the beginning of July, the Government of Indonesia decided to introduce an export duty on thermal coal fromAugust 8. The duty rate is 1.5% of the export amount of thermal coal. What to be intended for duty imposition is coalproducers and traders called as a holder of Izin Usaha Pertambangan (IPU), and the duty is not be levied on the holdersof coal contract of work (CCoW).
