Having chalked up global sales of EUR302 million last year,Rhein Chemie saw its business grow in Asia. One of its initatives in Asia includes a recently started-up plant for polymer-bound rubber chemicals(Rhenogran)in India,built at the production site of its parent company Lanxess. Last year,the company also doubled Rhenogran production capacity at its Chinese joint venture in Qingdao. The German company plans to further expand its business in Asia by building a new plant for lubricant additives in Qingdao. The new facility will come on stream in late 2008. With an annual volume of 4.4 million tonnes and a growth of 8% a year,the market for lubricants in China is four times greater than that in Germany.
