Biodegradable resin Procter & Gamble and Japan-based Kaneka Corporation have signed a one-year joint development agreement that is aimed at commercialising a biodegradable resin that is a co-polymer polyester of 3-hydroxybutyric acid and 3-hydroxyhexanoic acid. The partners are targeting commercial production by the end of 2005 and will focus on the film, foam and injection moulded product sectors.
