UK leads FDI surge from EU

Foreign direct investment both out of the EU and into the EU had a big increase in 2007, according to Eurostat. The statistics organisation said in its latest announcement that FDI outflows from the EU27 rose by 53%, from EUR275bn in 2006 to EUR420bn in 2007. FDI into the EU27 from the rest of the world increased by 89%, from EUR169bn to EUR319bn last year. Intra-EU27 FDI flows rose by 13% compared with 2006.
