Time-honored techniques: a fitting tribute--the Stephen Mathes reconstructive symposium.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, the American Society of Maxillofa-cial Surgeons, the American Association for Hand Surgery, the American Society for Peripheral Nerve, and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas are pleased to present the inaugural Stephen Mathes Reconstructive Symposium (Fig. 1). Taking place from July 10 through 12, 2009, in Dallas, the symposium will offer a trip back to our roots. Traveling to the pillars of our specially, a combination of societies will present commonplace reconstructive procedures experienced by all of us in the emergency room or in our daily practices. It is an ideal opportunity for those fresh out in practice to refine their skills and learn new ones.
