What's Europe ever done for us?

Those of us who are fans of the UK comedy group Monty Python may be familiar with the question: "What have the Romans ever done for us?" It is asked-and answered below* We face a similar question in the UK following the recent general election. The people have spoken. They have decided we need a government which, among many other things has promised to hold an in/out referendum over membership of the European Union (EU)-by the end of 2017. As a publication based on the principle of free international trade, the free movement of people and ideas, we cannot support anything which would politically weaken the EU.
