Mussolente, Italy - Thermoplastic polyurethane supplier API SpA is expanding, with investments in production machinery and R&D infrastructure.This expansion will allow the Mussolente, Italy-based TPU producer to meet rising demand in footwear and give it the means to put more resources into automotive applications, Lorenzo Brunetti, salesand marketing manager, told UTl via email.No details of the capacities or the investment are available. API's 2011 turnover was about ?45 million ($60 million) with earnings (EBITDA) of about 10 percent,API, run by the Brunetti family, including Lorenzo's father Sergio as president, said its new research and development lab and office space for technical staff are nearing completion, with R&D space increased by about 80 percent.
