WORL-SCALE POLYOL AND ISOCYANATES PLANTS NEEDED IN INDIA, INDUSTRY SAYS

To reach its potential, the Indian polyurethanes industry needs the support of local world-scale facilities for polyurethane raw materials, according to industry experts at the PUTECH 2008 meeting, held 11-13 March in Delhi. And while the only Indian manufacturer of TDI (toluene diisocyanate) Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertiliser Co. Ltd (GNFC) is planning to expand, adding a new 50-kilotonnes-per-annum TDI plant by 2010 (see box p44), various commentators are keen to see larger-scale investment in PU raw materials in India.
