There is a great interest in the oscillation behaviour of a single cavitation bubble in a sound field. Bubble dynamics is investigated by evaluating the acoustic backscattering of a high-frequency image sound field from the bubble. It is shown that the scattering technique permits the simultaneous evaluation of the amplitudes and of a shift in frequency in the scattered image sound field to obtain information about bubble dynamics. Thus, an acoustic observation of the bubble oscillation is performed. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V. [References: 10]
