In the interview, Mr. Khoroshkovsky evaluates present economic situation in Ukraine and projects priorities for short-term development. These include 'rebuilding of the country's favorable international image and trust from external as well as domestic investors. Priorities also include improvement in GDP structure, saturation of the budget, legalization of shadow capital, as well as development of small and medium enterprises. The minister also talks on measures that the Ukrainian government undertakes to improve environment for investors' activity in the country. Such are arrangement of property issues, legislative and organizational support of the system of counteraction to shadow privatization, as well as striving for transparency, accessibility, and liquidity of stock market in Ukraine. In the words of Valery Khoroshkovsky, the Government's short-term plans also include recovery of active cooperation with international financial organizations, foremost, with the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
