Decision time for ecotowns

THE government is to prune its eight-strong shortlist of ecotown candidates -- which include UK COAL's proposals to regenerate the Rossington Colliery site with a 5,000 home development and new jobs -- following an extended deadline for public consultation. Housing Minister Margaret Beckett is expected to announce a decision in June on which projects will proceed to the next phase, following a five month consultation period which ended on April 30.
