Three years ago when the Chinese export metallurgical coke price skyrocketed to nearly 500 dollars/metric tonne, Met Coke World Summit Co-Chair Andrew Aloe of Shenango Inc. was asked the following question by one of the panelists: "What do you think the blast furnace coke price will eventually reach?" A number of industry experts provided a wide range of answers, but virtually no one anticipated the drastic upward movement that peaked at more than 450 dollars/tonne.
