At last, a book that correctly presents the three main industrial performance improvement approaches - Theory of Constraints, Lean and Six Sigma - and explains why if you use a combination of the three you will have a system that enables you to improve much faster and reach higher levels of performance. This combination is often referred to as TLS. Theory of Constraints (ToC) was pioneered by Eliyahu Goldratt in the 1970s. It says that it is no longer possible to balance capacities and that a company always has a very limited number of bottlenecks surrounded by non-bottlenecks. These two types of resources should be managed very differently.
