With big-budget projects set to revolutionise the UK's rail industry; quality assessment at every stage is more crucial than ever. Crossrail, the massive rail project to upgrade 37 railway stations and create seven new sub-surface stations in London, is currently Europe's largest rail project. It will cost 15bn and London's rail capacity will increase by 10%. Since the scheme's go-ahead in October 2010, Crossrail has awarded 1.5bn in contracts.
