We are all currently faced with challenging trading conditions, but I would argue that there has never been a better period for manufacturers and service providers to make the best use of the tools provided by organisations such as the International Organisation for Standardisation. A company can use quality to create added value effectiveness and efficiency for its activities, products and services. Now is the time to stop, think and take stock. We must look at how to build on the lessons of previous years and reflect on our mistakes and successes with the aim of generating multidisciplinary opportunities for improvement. By establishing new SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and timed) objectives and targets, we will benefit both our own organisations and those of our customers.
