Since my earliest jobs, which included working in a department store, as a lifeguard and behind a bar, I've been able to see ways in which things could or should be done better, Maybe it's because I'm quite opinionated! Sometimes it's too easy to get caught up in doing the things that you're supposed to do rather than looking at it from the customer's perspective. I guess I was just programmed quite early on to think about it from someone else's point of view.I come from humble beginnings, academically speaking. My family are very practical people and I was the first to forge a more office-based, corporate career. LucasVarity an automotive parts manufacturer, sponsored me through an engineering degree and, excitingly, sent me to the Bahamas for three months on a work placement. It was my first chance to look at the way things were functioning within a company and to give feedback on how they might work differently or better.
