In a world that is chock-full of books on corporate strategy, it's extremely pleasing to read something as well written as Richard Koch's The Financial Times Guide to Strategy. This is the third edition so, as you might imagine, it's been well honed over the years. It's almost two distinct books, one a companion piece to the other: parts one and two are the essay elements explaining the conceptual aspects of strategy, and the real 'meat' of the book. Parts three, four and five lend themselves to be dipped into, almost as if it were a guidebook. As well as being a well-known authority on business, many of us will be familiar with his 80/20 works. Koch has a very easy-to-read style that never failed to keep me interested. It's clear that he is passionate about his subject, something which is evident right through each of the five parts of this book.
