The strong tradition of the Timpson brand isn't a burden. If the only way to make money was to be rude to everybody I guess that's what we'd do but I've found it isn't and I've learnt that from the way we always did business. There aren't any old-fashioned hang-ups in the business. If there was ever something that held me back it was the fact that Timpson had been known as a shoe retailer for years and I've just about got rid of that tag. Now we are the biggest key cutters, engravers and probably about the second biggest watch repairers in the UK, but some people still think we're a cobblers.
