Private equity firm wins bid for National Envelope

Los Angeles-based private equity firm The Gores Group emerged as the winning bidder for bankrupt envelope maker National Envelope, which is the largest US envelope maker with about a 21% share in front of Cenveo (19%) and MeadWestvaco (8%). Gores' bid was around $200 million, consisting of cost that include nearly $150 million in cash, and an agreement to assume about $37.6 million in debt, and $20 million of assumed payables. The deal is to close by Sept. 7.
