New MRF up, running in Toronto, with second one to start in June in Bronx

A new single-stream material recovery facility (MRF) started up on May 1 in Toronto and a second one is to run in the Bronx, NY, in late June, officials from the two companies said. The two projects by Canada Fibers and Action Carting cost about $34 million. Canada Fibers' new MRF in Toronto is to produce 300,000 tons/yr — with an estimated 80% of output sold in North America and 20% overseas. The new MRF adds to Canada Fibers' "other facility on site for industrial/commercial processing" that was installed two years ago, the offi-cial said this week.
