China's Dongguan city in the southern province Guangdong has vowed to shut down 57 board and tissue mills by June. This is part of the city's plan to curb pollution, which was announced in September 2014. According to the plan, some 104 industrial plants, including 57 paper mills, will be shut down permanently. The campaign is targeting board mills with a capacity below 200,000 tonnes/yr and tissue plants with a capacity below 50,000 tonnes/yr.
