Atlantic Packaging close to completing conversion of idle newsprint PM to containerboard

Atlantic Packaging Products hoped to complete the conversion of the idle newsprint PM at its Whitby, ON, mill to container-board by the end of April, according to contacts. The machine would have capacity to produce 300,000 tons/yr of recycled lightweight containerboard but the net capacity addition reportedly would be more like 100,000 tons/yr because the company may indefinitely idle an older existing machine depending on market conditions.
