GUNNS GETS LAND-CLEARING PERMIT FOR PULP MILL

The Australian government has given Gunns the green light to clear vegetation to make way for its planned pulp mill in northern Tasmania. On February 1, the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts, Peter Garrett, gave the go-ahead to clear the site for the 1.1 million tonne/yr bleached softwood and hardwood kraft pulp plant.
