Optimal design of skip lot group acceptance sampling plans for the WeibuIl distribution and the generalized exponential distribution

Purpose: To develop an attributes skip lot sampling plan of type SkSP-2 using a group acceptance sampling plan when the lifetime of a product follows either the Weibull distribution or the generalized exponential distribution. Summary: Acceptance sampling deals with the decision to accept or reject a submitted lot based on the inspection result of samples. Many types of acceptance sampling plans such as single sampling plans, double sampling plans, multiple sampling plans, continuous sampling plans and skip-lot sampling plans have been developed and practiced. In fact, the present article proposes an attributes skip lot sampling plan of type SkSP-2 using a group acceptance sampling plan for a time-truncated experiment as the reference plan, called SkGSP-2, when the lifetime of a product follows either the WeibuII distribution or the generalized exponential distribution. The plan parameters such as the number of groups and the acceptance number are determined such that the specified values of producer's risk and consumer's risk are satisfied simultaneously. A comparison between the proposed skip lot group acceptance sampling plans with the ordinary group acceptance sampling plan in terms of the number of groups is made. Extensive tables are provided for the selection of plan parameters according to various values of experiment time, percentiles ratios, and group size. Examples are also given to illustrate the proposed sampling plan. The paper ends with concluding remarks and recommendations. (24 refs.)
