Purpose:To develop a system dynamics model to support the management of intake and treatment processes in mental health care.Summary:This paper develops a system dynamics model to support the management of intake and treatment processes in mental health care. The author first models the existing situation in the care unit and simulate the impact of policy changes and redesign of intake and treatment processes. It is shown that shifting personal resources between intake and treatment activities does not substantially improve performance. Better results of process redesign and stepped care are found.
