Leaky Hose & Mechanical Failure Cause of Sunrise Propane Blast

It was a tank-to-tank transfer that caused the Sunrise Propane explosion in North York on August 10, 2008, according to the report from the Ontario Fire Marshal's office, released in early August 2010. A propane leak happened because of a hose failure, the report states. Over six minutes prior to the explosion, leaked liquid propane turned to vapour. Somehow, the vapour cloud ignited and investigators did not say how or why.
