Improved Agronomic Technology For Raising Rice Productivity

RICE has become the principal kharif crop of the Punjab mainly because of its stable productivity and remunerative returns. At present, the average paddy yield of the recommended varieties in the Punjab is 5134 kg/ha against the potential of 8500-9000 kg/ha. This indicates that there is a vast scope for bridging this yield gap. Hence for further increasing the paddy productivity some of the agronomic practices could play a vital role besides the rational use of the resources.
