Rainwater harvesting through rooftop

Rainwater harvesting through rooftop is one of the simple, economical and eco-friendly techniques which can be used for artificial groundwater recharge at mass level. WATER table is declining in the state of Punjab over the last ten years at a rate ofmore than 50 cm per year. This is due to the increase in number of tubewells, more area under paddy crops, decreasing rainfall trend and rapid urbanization. There is urgent need to recharge the groundwater aquifer by harvesting rainwater, which is primary source of available water. There are different techniques for harvesting rainwater for groundwater recharge. Rainwater harvesting through rooftop is one of the simple, economical and eco-friendly techniques which can be used for artificial groundwater recharge at mass level.
